Run Squad meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 5:45am. When people hear that, the first reaction is usually some variation of "there is absolutely no way."

Where we run
Part of what makes Run Squad different is that we don't run the same loop every week. Sessions rotate between three locations in Melbourne's inner west — each one chosen for a reason.
Williamstown Beach for flat, confidence-building running with the kind of morning views that make the alarm worth setting. Deload weeks, tempo runs, and sessions where the goal is rhythm and flow.
Newport for flat speed work along the waterfront — the place to find your pace and push a little harder without the hills getting in the way.
Farnsworth Avenue, Footscray for hills. Proper hills. The kind that build strength, power and that quiet confidence that only comes from doing something hard and finishing it.

What a session actually looks like
There are no two sessions exactly alike, but here's the shape of a typical morning:
We start with a warm-up and some activation work — getting the body ready to run rather than just throwing it straight into effort. From there, the session might be hill repeats, a tempo run, fartlek intervals, or speed work depending on the week and what the group needs. We finish with a cool-down and a bit of time to catch your breath.
It goes for an hour. You leave feeling like you've done something. And on weekends, there's always a free run going — no charge, ever — where the coffee at the end tends to last longer than the run itself.
The part that's harder to explain
There's something that happens inside a running group that's genuinely difficult to put into words until you've experienced it.
It's the runner who showed up nervous on her first session and now turns up every week without thinking twice. The one who'd never run a kilometre without stopping and just finished a half marathon.
