Footprints in the sand made by sneakers

Melbourne’s Inner West run group

For those who just want to keep showing up.

Your first week is completely free.

No commitment. No pressure. Just come and run with us.

A friend told me, “Comparing yourself to other people’s pace is the killer of fun.”

So instead of comparing myself to the fastest runners, I compare myself to Day 1 me.

I’m still at the back… but today felt different.

Not exhausted.

Breathing better.

Happier after the run.

Today, I’m still at the back… but stronger every week, enjoying it more, and finally thinking:

“Maybe… yeah, I can do this.”

Trust the process ✨

What our runners say

Real people. Real results. Real community.

★★★★★

"I came for the fitness but stayed for the friendships, the laughs, and the way I feel after every session. My mental health has genuinely improved since joining, and I leave each run feeling better than when I arrived. If you're on the fence, just show up, you won't regret it."

Jen O'Brien
★★★★★

"I was a bit nervous as I didn't have much experience with running but I was greeted warmly by all members especially Dale. It is a supportive environment where all levels of running are welcome, and it is an amazing way to start the day! Thanks Dale for creating this space for us!"

Amelia Obrien
★★★★★

"There's no other form of exercise I've been this consistent with — over 10 years now. I love the people, the laughs, and the encouragement. If I were running on my own, I would have given up by now."

Tessa Gurry
★★★★★

"Day 1, I could barely jog 5 minutes straight. Week 7 — not exhausted, breathing better, happier after the run. I'm still at the back… but stronger every week, and finally thinking: 'Maybe… yeah, I can do this.' I always felt included, even when I was the slowest one there 💛"

"RD Run Coach gives me the right balance and commitment to keep me fit and active, and I don't have to do it alone. His program can be designed to suit any level of runner — last year RD set me up to complete a half marathon in Queenstown, and this year we head to Kangaroo Island for another 21.1kms."

Run Squad

Join us on Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings - for Run Squad. You will be joining a great group of runners that have various goals. Whilst we call ourselves athletes - there are no egos to deal with or “elite”. RD will ensure that each session matches your ability and if you have a goal in mind, you won’t want to do it alone. RD will keep you accountable but not so that you’re under pressure. It’s always done with care and understanding of where you are at.

Location: We move around each week so that we change the goal of each session. We might be working on speed - so the session is flat, strength - so we “head to the hills”, ankle stability - run in the sand at the beach…. Currently we move between Williamstown Beach and Farnsworth Ave Footscray mostly - keep an eye on Instagram/Facebook for the location for this week.

Session Details:

Tuesday - 5:45am (Yes we know - that’s early…) - Goes for an hour and the 15mins earlier than most people - means getting back to home is easier…

Thursday - 5:45am - In the same location as Tuesday generally - same duration.

Weekend Runs - We don’t charge for these - but there is always one going for you to join. We’re a big group with different goals, so you might join in with someone’s long run half way. The most important part - the coffee at the end should be longer than the run.

Dale Ipsen is a run coach with 15+ years of running experience - but at no particular level. He just loves running and encouraging others to run too! He’s run 10 marathons - including in that - he ran 100km event.. and countless half marathons.

RD is short for Race Director - Dale got that nickname from the people he runs with - because he organises the long run each week and encourages everyone to get on board.

Dale has a Level 2 Recreational Running qualification from Athletics Australia.
